The Glacial Lagoon is one of our most loved locations we visited. In Icelandic, it is called Jökulsárlón. Unlike anything else, the lagoon is constantly changing so every ice sculpture drifts on the water surface for a time and then takes its leave to be replaced by another eye-catching ice form. The ice that fills the lagoon are broken parts of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, a process called “calving”. Continue reading “The Glacial Lagoon, Iceland”

Iceland’s water

Summer in Iceland has one predominant colour – Green! It comes in variations from dark moss green to bright mint green thanks to the copious rainfall. Luckily for us, we didn’t have much rain during our trip in June. Still, there are many more things to write about Iceland’s water sources other than rain. Continue reading “Iceland’s water”
