The Glacial Lagoon with an amazing view of the mountains beyond.

The Glacial Lagoon is one of our most loved locations we visited. In Icelandic, it is called Jökulsárlón. Unlike anything else, the lagoon is constantly changing so every ice sculpture drifts on the water surface for a time and then takes its leave to be replaced by another eye-catching ice form. The ice that fills the lagoon are broken parts of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, a process called “calving”. Continue reading “The Glacial Lagoon, Iceland”
